Who We Are

“Words do two major things: They provide food for mind and create light for understanding and awareness”- Jim Rohn
We are a NGO promoting education and awareness among unprivileged classes of society. We educate nearly 500 children every year with part subsidies from the Government and the rest of the cost of every basic requirement is generated from individuals, philanthropists and corporate entities.
Through our publications, online (Dakhalandazi) and print (Bangalured), we are committed to bring social issues those are unreported in main stream media thus becoming the face of poor and unprivileged classes of society.
Our online election agenda to bring all the information of our local politician on www.knowyourneta.com is another effort to bring awareness in the society.

Birth of "SSS"

Looking out of a window one day in Champapurwa, a village near Shuklaganj, Unnao, Mrs. Ramrati saw a group of children fighting with street dogs over scraps of food. When she approached their parents she could realize how poverty is eating up the structure of society.  Moved from this, pity and yet heart breaking incident, came the determination that- “No one within one mile radius of our center should remain hungry and uneducated”.
It is her inspiration which helped us to create the “Saraswati Siksha Samiti” as it is today.
We took this initiative with the vision that “No child in India shall be deprived of education because of hunger.”
In 1995, we started our NGO in Unnao with a small school named ‘Durga Saraswati Shishu Mandir’. At that time there was no state run school in the area. Champapurwa, a slum with approximately 90% of the population below poverty line was a very tough place to start as there was a very little willpower among the people to send their children to school.  But slowly and steady we took ‘Saraswati Siksha Samiti’ to new heights.

Growth Process

Slow but Steady
‘Saraswati Siksha Samiti’ is presently reaching out to 500 underprivileged children from the support of our donors.
Now we are reaching out to 1000 children every year.
For 16 years, we have been local charity for children that have worked to transform a vision into a reality.
Our publications, online (Dakhalandazi) and print (Bangalured), are also serving the populace in the best possible ways by updating them with information which are somewhere left by the main stream media and by making them aware of their rights and surroundings. Through these two projects we are giving a platform to the youth and the hidden talents to explore themselves by contributing to us with their ideas and thoughts.
